Below is a map of the Republican Basin – south of the Nebraska/Kansas border. The Republican River flows east through northwestern Kansas until it curves northeast, scooping into Nebraska for X number of miles before it cuts back south and continues moving southeast until it hits Milford Reservoir, northwest of Junction City. Prior to the building of the Milford Lake Dam, the Republican River would have junctured with the Kansas River at Junction City. Concordia Team on Flickr

Kansas-Lower Republican Basin

Mr. Scott Peltier’s Concordia Junior High School science classes visited the Republican River on September 22nd & 23rd of 2003. Jeff Severin & Alison Reber with the Kaw Valley Heritage Alliance/Kansas StreamLink Program met with students on site. (See sampling images on the flora and fauna page.)

**Listen to a student discussion on their community, the river, and their hopes for the future. (interview by Alison Reber; edited for length, volume is still very variable)**
